Cuppafocus

A warm study timer that keeps your streak

Privacy policy

This page says what Cuppafocus stores on your device, and what changes if advertising is turned on.

Cuppafocus is a study timer at cuppafocus.com. There is no account. This policy was last updated on 2 November 2026.

The timer on this device

The streak and your settings are kept in local storage in this browser, under the key study-timer.v1. The record holds the dates a session finished, your best streak, the length you chose, the sound and the volume, and a session that is still running. It stays on the device. The publisher does not receive it, and there is no account database that stores it.

The page also uses session storage so the finish chime plays once for a session. The key starts with study-timer-chime-. A reload will not play the chime again. That value lasts until you close the tab.

After a visit to the production site, a service worker may store the page, the fonts, and the sounds so the timer can open offline. That copy is on your device as well.

To delete the streak and the settings, clear site data for cuppafocus.com in your browser. That removes study-timer.v1, the chime flag, and the offline copy from this device.

Cookies

Cuppafocus does not set its own cookies for the timer. The streak uses local storage, described above.

If you close the small ad bar, the page remembers that in session storage until you close the tab. The key is cuppafocus.ad-anchor-dismissed. That only happens once ads are on the site. The timer has no ad slots.

Advertising

The notes and this page are set up for Google AdSense. The timer screens have no ad slots. Ads are not requested while the publisher id is empty. When ads are on, Google and other advertising companies may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site and to other sites.

You can choose how Google uses advertising cookies in Google's ad settings. How Google uses cookies in advertising describes those cookies. Google's partner sites policy covers sites that use Google's services. Google's privacy policy covers how Google handles personal data.

Those companies collect data under their own rules once their tags are allowed to run. The consent message, when it exists, lists the advertising partners.

Consent in the UK and the EEA

In the UK and the EEA, advertising cookies should wait for a choice. This site sets Google Consent Mode so the defaults are denied before any advertising tag loads. The denied defaults cover ad storage, ad user data, ad personalisation, and analytics storage. Advertising tags are also told to redact ad click data until a choice allows it. A reduced form of the page address can still be sent so a tag can function without those cookies.

These defaults apply to advertising and analytics tags. The streak in local storage is part of the timer. It is kept whether or not you accept ads.

The choice itself comes from Google's Privacy & messaging tools. That message is a Google-certified consent service, and it supports the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework, version 2.2, which Google requires for ads shown to people in the UK and the EEA. The message is created in the AdSense account and served with the AdSense tag. Until the message is published, and until a publisher id is added to the site, no advertising tag is loaded and there is no banner. The defaults stay denied.

The footer link "Privacy and cookie settings" reopens that message once it is on the page. Until then, the link brings you to this policy.

Analytics

Cuppafocus does not use an analytics tool. There is no Google Analytics tag, and the site does not count visits. If that changes, this page will be updated to name the tool and say what it collects, before any analytics tag is added.

Your rights

If you are in the UK, you can ask for a copy of personal data the publisher holds about you. You can ask for that data to be erased. You can object to its use. You can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office if you think it has been handled badly.

The publisher has no copy of study-timer.v1. A request for access or erasure will not find the streak on a server, because it never left your browser. The host that serves the site may keep ordinary connection logs, including an IP address and the page requested, for security and to keep the site running. Those logs are the personal data a request can cover.

Say which right you want to use. Include a rough time and the page you opened, so the right log lines can be found. The publisher will handle what they hold, and will say if a host log has to be requested from the company that serves the site.
